The Embassy of Israel in the Philippines donatedNUF water filtration systems to Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) which were distributed to Typhoon Odette-stricken areas in Mindanao.

The Israeli-made water filtration systems were delivered to Del Carmen and San Isidro in Siargao Island and Cagdianao and Basilisa in Dinagat Islandson March 29. Joining Ambassador Ilan Fluss and Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Nir Balzam during the turnover ceremony were MinDA secretary Maria Belen Acosta and Deputy Executive Director Romeo Montenegro. Present were Surigao del Norte Governor Francisco Matugas, Dinagat Islands Governor Arlene Bag-ao, and other government officials.

“Water is life. This donation is Israel’s initiative to support and promote access to potable water in the Philippines. When Typhoon Odette struck the areas in Mindanao, Israel saw the need for clean, drinking water. We coordinated with MinDA to help identify which areas we could extend this assistance,” Ambassador Fluss explained. The ambassador added, “Israel’s innovation and technology can contribute to solving some of the challenges of the Philippines.”

The Israeli-made technology is a portable crank-operated machine capable of taking water from a polluted source such as a river and purifying up to 400 liters per hour, which is enough to supply all the daily water needs of 300 to 400 people.

Prior to this, the embassy sent immediate relief efforts in December to Cebu, Bohol, and Siargao, which were also affected by Typhoon Odette. “The embassy saw the urgent needs of the people. We donated food packs, hygiene kits, water filtration systems, and solar panels to these affected areas,” Mr. Balzam shared.

MinDA and LGUs in Mindanao received a training program by Israel’s Center for International Cooperation (MASHAV) in 2021 for water conservation and management. This joint initiative is part of the ongoing partnership of the Israel Embassy and MASHAV with MinDA.

Looking Back with Joy

Transit Dialog has published my essay, Looking Back with Joy, yesterday. Allow me to share it with you all:

“𝘓𝘦𝘵 𝘶𝘴 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮.”

𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗝𝗼𝘆

𝘉𝘺 𝘚𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘢 𝘎𝘢𝘪𝘭 𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘴

I was watching a video on YouTube about gratitude. The vlogger was a published author who shared her achievements in 2021. She said that she was surprised with all that she has achieved during an otherwise challenging year.

Time can fly so fast, especially for a busy author and vlogger. Her joy was palpable in her video, and she simply chose to celebrate herself and her wins.

This video has inspired me to look back on the previous year by flipping through my journal. I saw how the manuscript for my first book was coming together, and the notes that I had for it. I read the entries that I wrote as I launched my first book, as well as my plans for the second one. I was hooked! I did not realize that all of these happened in the span of a few months.

I reached for my second journal for 2021 and looked back on my second book’s manuscript and outline. I read my thorough notes on my manuscript’s chapters, and how I still wanted my second book to feel like a self-help book. Sure, it was about self-publishing, but I wanted to motivate my reader by sharing my own experiences as well.

My second book was launched to so many feels on my journal, and I felt my own joy through its pages.

It warmed my heart to read about genuine happiness and personal fulfillment. I did not realize how far I have come because 2021 seemed like a very long and difficult year. Looking back, I wrote and published my two books because it was my creative outlet and career move. I took a risk, and it all worked out in the end.

I recently started writing a new journal for 2022 and I reread my entries for January. I was also caught in a wave of surprise and gratitude. I was able to release a short story for a Canadian publisher, and I was able to enjoy my writing assignments and media partnerships. My first month was busy and fun. It makes me happy to read about my progress so far.

I know that not everyone journals everyday, but if you are going through some tough times, try to list down your wins last year. You might be surprised by all your achievements and how far you have come. You can also look at how your 2022 is going so far, and you will see that you are doing a good job after all.

Celebrate your wins, no matter how small! If you want to start a new hobby this year, I suggest that you take up journaling. You can just use it as a gratitude journal and it will become your tracker for all the good things that have gone well in your life. Being thankful can make your soul feel lighter and your heart a lot warmer. Even if life gets challenging, remember that there is always something to be grateful for.

If you still do not know where to start, then just think of how you are reading this. You are looking at a screen right now and you are fortunate to have the means to afford that gadget. You can read and make sense out of this essay. You are lucky to be literate and capable of understanding concepts. You have friends on this social media platform. Sure, they are not all your real friends, but still, some of them are the real deal.

You can read, you have a gadget in front of you, and you have friends. Now, those are three good things to be thankful for!

Let us learn to look back on our wins and celebrate them. Let us be grateful. And let us look forward to a better 2022 that is filled with hope and more wins.

4th Impact makes a sterling comeback on new single “Here We Go”

The award-winning Filipino girl group joins SB19 and KAIA as part of Sony Music and ShowBT family

It’s official: 4th Impact is the newest addition to Sony Music Philippines and ShowBT Philippines’ roster of music talents, which include P-Pop kings SB19 and five-member girl group KAIA.

No stranger to conquering the international music scene, 4th Impact made waves in the UK after finishing fifth on the British singing contest, The X Factor and peaking at No. 10 on iTunes Brazil with their 2020 single “K(NO)W MORE.” Late last year, the award-winning girl group co-headlined the crossover orchestra concert, Forte with SB19, which received glowing reviews for its exemplary fusion of classical and Pinoy pop music on a live stage format.

After being officially welcomed by Sony Music Philippines and ShowBT Philippines as part of the family, 4th Impact expressed gratitude for the interesting developments in their career. “It’s an answered prayer for us,” the sister act shares in a statement. “We once prayed for a management who will really take care of us and believe in what we can do. We feel ShowBT and Sony Music are the right companies to help us reach more of our dreams. And it is such a great honor to be part of their roster and be lined up with the P-Pop Kings: SB19.”

To mark the beginning of this eventful partnership, 4thImpact has released their new single “Here We Go,” which was produced by Choi YoungHo (Handsome People) and Zrademusic (Adrian K, Methuselah K.). With a masterful blend of R&B diva chops, hip-hop sass, and stadium-sized energy, the upbeat track positions 4th Impact as a vocal powerhouse deserving of global acclaim.

“We wanted it to be a new anthem,” said the chart-topping quartet. “It’s an empowering song that aims to celebrate Filipinas all around the world, and how they’ve shown grace and excellence amidst troubling times.”

4th Impact revealed that it’s their first time writing a song, and that their own life story is the main inspiration behind the lyrics. “We wanted to empower everyone, especially Filipino women, to believe in themselves and hold on to their dreams. Everything is possible if we just work together as one.”

The pop-R&B jam is accompanied by a music videowhich finds the Cercado sisters Almira, Irene, Mylene, and Celina looking all sassy and confident in a star-making performance. It’s also part of 4th Impact’s first single album, which contains the following tracks:

1. Here We Go

2. K(no)w More

3. Here We Go (Instrumental)

4. K(no)w More (Instrumental)

4th Impact’s “Here We Go” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Philippines. Watch the music video here.
