British singer-songwriter James Arthur scores another viral hit in Asia with “Car’s Outside”

The song has peaked at No. 34 of Spotify Philippines, and has charted inside the top 10 of Spotify Indonesia and Malaysia for several weeks

British singer-songwriter James Arthur has gone viral in the Philippines with the growing popularity of “Car’s Outside,” an old song off his 2019 album, YOU.

 

The uptick in demand comes from the piano-driven ballad’s resurgence on the short-form video app TikTok. To date, the rousing ditty has garnered more than 500,000 videos on TikTok alone, including combined original and sped-up versions.

 

“Car’s Outside” also proved to be popular on streaming, as it peaked at No. 34 of the Spotify Philippines’ Chart, becoming one of the surprise hits of 2023.

 

Elsewhere in Asia, the track has gained success on asimilar platform, particularly in Malaysia and Indonesia, where it has landed in the Top 10 of the respective countries’ Spotify overall charts.

 

Aside from “Car’s Outside,” James Arthur is also receiving impressive traction in the region, especially with his cover of Christina Perri’s hit, “A Thousand Years.” Both songs have climbed in the top 5 of James Arthur’s most popular songs in Spotify and are steadily climbing in several music charts worldwide—thanks to their viral appeal and relatable message.


The Middlesbrough-born, and most successful X Factor winner of all time has scored 4 top 10 albums, with 2016’s Back From The Edge hitting the Number 1 spot. Over his career, he has collaborated with the likes of Anne-Marie, Sigala, Rudimental, Marshmallow & many more.

Today, rising San Diego DJ/producer Knock2 teams up with dance music titan NGHTMRE for a highly-anticipated collaboration “One Chance (feat. Marlhy)”, out now via 88rising and available on all streaming platforms. “One Chance” is Knock2's inaugural single via the pioneering 88rising label.

“One Chance” is a natural collaboration between the two heavy-hitter DJs who have shared the stage and teased the single on many occasions over the past year – from NGHTMRE’s appearance at Brooklyn Mirage to Knock2’s debut Los Angeles headline. ““From the first time I heard a Knock2 track, I knew he was going to revitalize the entire sound that I fell in love with when I started,” says NGHTMRE, “He is insanely talented and it was an honor to work on this record with him.”

Filipino singer-songwriter BenjPangilinan drops music video for “Love, That’s Rare”

The nostalgic MV was conceptualized by Benj himself and his sister, Hannah

Filipino singer-songwriter Benj Pangilinan is the newest recording artist this year to be launched under Sony Music Entertainment—home to some of the biggest acts in the country, including P-Pop royalty SB19 and multi-awarded band Ben&Ben.

Serving charismatic flair with undeniable vocal chops, the promising star has shown immense promise with the release of “LOVE, THAT’S RARE.” The track serves as his official single under the international record label, and is co-produced by Grammy-nominated Xerxes Bakker(Imagine Dragons, Snoop Dogg).

 

The release of the electro-pop ballad is accompanied by a music video directed by Filipino filmmaker Gilb Baldoza, who has done important work for fellow recording artists such as Julie Anne San Jose and Rico Blanco. The main idea behind its visuals was conceived by Benj and his sister Hannah.

“We wanted to try our best to tell a story that made people see a different side of Love and all that it brings,” the alt-pop prodigy explains. “Working with Direk Gilb was super fun. His energy is infectious. I learned so much from him on the process of what it takes to create a short film.”

Despite coming from a lineage of well-respected entertainers, Benj Pangilinan wants to be known for bringing his personal stamp to his own art. Not worried about what other people think, the multi-hyphenate artist is keen on redirecting his focus on making music that represents his own vision.

I'm not trying to impress anyone,” he admits. “I guess I just try to focus on being as authentic as possible to shine His light on others.”
