Awich, Jay Park, KR$NA, Masiwei & VannDa - "ASIAN STATE OF MIND (Prod. Diego Ave)" (Official Music Video)
Hailed as the queen of Japanese hip-hop, Awich is the living embodiment of all that makes the genre so culturally vital. Over the course of her boundary-pushing career, the Okinawa-born artist has balanced real-life storytelling and razor-sharp commentary, larger-than-life personality and unguarded humanity, forward-thinking musicianship and a fierce devotion to her heritage and homelandâa Japanese prefecture whose troubled history and near-mystical beauty have served as an endless inspiration for the rapper/singer/songwriter. As she reaches global stardom on the strength of her musicâs emotional potency and limitless originality, Awich now moves forward with her mission of uplifting her community while fearlessly speaking her truth.
While keeping the street life close, she produced her first full-length album, âAsia Wish Childâ, which was released in 2007. Her album, âQueendomâ, which was release in 2002, reached #1 overall in the Apple Albums category while her single âRasen in Okinawaâ reached #1 on various charts. In 2023, in addition to her first nationwide Zepp tour, she released the album 'THE UNION' and held her first one-man sold-out live performance âQueendom - THE UNION - at K-Arena Yokohamaâ.
The latest body of work from Awich dropped last month where she contributed to Shangri-La Frontier season 2âs second course with the opening track called âFrontiersâ. This collaboration comes on the heels of Awichâs recent tie-in with the Netflix drama âThe Queen of Villainsâ and adds to her growing list of milestones - a landmark performance at Nippon Budokan, the viral success of hits like âBad B*tch Bigakuâ and her performance at the first iteration of Rolling Loud Thailand in 2024 alongside artists like Cardi B, Lil Uzi Vert, and many more.
