K-Pop rock girl group Dreamcatcher drops sophomore album, [Apocalypse : Save us]
After much anticipation, Dreamcatcher finally drops theirsecond album, ‘[Apocalypse : Save us]’ today via Sony Music Entertainment Korea. This is their second full-length album following the release of their first album ‘[Dystopia : The Tree of Language]’ two years ago, and approximately nine months since their EP ‘[Summer Holiday]’.
Dreamcatcher presents a 14-track filled album as they embark on a new journey, making way for their ‘Apocalypse’ trilogy.
Following Dreamcatcher’s ‘Dystopia’ series, the K-Pop rock group introduces their new ‘Apocalypse’ era. Their new album ‘Apocalypse : Save us’ is a desperate plea and cry to save the planet from ecological damage and global warming. The title track “MAISON” (translating to “home” in French) stays true to Dreamcatcher’s sonic identity and style based on rock genre and distortion bass. The track serves as a warning to the deafened ears and those who are turning a blind eye to the environmental concerns surrounding everyone’s home, the Earth. In addition, the album presents solo tracks of each member, which marks their first album involving all seven members’ songwriting.
Dreamcatcher is set to perform at 2022 Primavera Sound Barcelona in June as the first K-Pop group to do so. The group has been taking a different approach by combining rock, metal, and electronica elements within their music. Their uniqueness has earned the attention of many and the seven-membered K-Pop girl group has been slowly but steadily hitting one milestone after another. The 10-piece ensemble taps SB19’s PABLO as producer for their debut R&B/rap single
10-member hip-hop group PLAN B marks their highly anticipated debut with “Love,” their first official single under Sony Music Philippines.
The smooth, soulful track was arranged by SB19’s PABLO, who delivers his producer stamp with no-skips-required hook and signature swagger. In return, the newly formed mega-group breathes new life to the genre with a star-turning performance that serves as testament to their craft.
With an inescapable groove that seems built for vibing, PLAN B’s “Love” chronicles multiple failed attempts in pursuing someone on a romantic level.
Its music video perfectly encapsulates the lyrics written by PLAN B’s Mateo and Gio themselves. Directed by Chapters PH’s Ken Tan, the visuals find two friends outdoing each other in billiards and bowling to compete for a girl’s attention, only to find out in the latter part of the narrative that she’s already taken.
Highlighting the crew’s music-making style, PLAN B’s “Love” went through arduous approval process during its conception. As the group puts it, “we all agree first of all on everything. When the internal discussion is finished, we look for a suitable beat that fits the narrative. Then we send it to boss B and kuya HBOM for final approval.”
PLAN B is an up-and-coming hip-hop/rap ensemble, consisting of members from all around the Philippines: Alyas Dom (Metro Manila), DK (Pangasinan), Dyno (Bicol), Gio (Metro Manila), G-Next (Laguna), GOSGE (Cavite), Kaizler (Pangasinan), Kier (Pangasinan), Mateo (Cagayan De Oro), and Skyruz (Misamis Oriental).

Sam&Steff, Janine Danielle, and EJ De Periolead WATERWALK RECORDS’ new releasesfor first quarter of 2022
WATERWALK RECORDS, a label under Sony Music,focused on bringing fresh Christian music to a new, streaming generation, features faith-based entertainment acts from the Philippines and across the Asian region. Crossing genre and denominational lines with songs that promote spiritual maturity and journey, the Christian record label announces its new music releases for the first quarter of the year.
Sam&Steff, a pop duo composed of Sam and Steff Evangelista, kicks off the trilogy of contemporary worship tunes. The newly formed music act recently wrote the praise anthem ‘Oh, Your Goodness!,’ which expresses “how overwhelmingly sweet it can be to experience what God’s goodness really means.”
According to the 19-year-old twins, the track serves as a “battle cry for people who are facing life’s uncertainty, chaos, and confusion, but still managed to hold on to the truth that God is here to stay and won’t ever let us go.”
Sam&Steff shares, “It’s a song sung to remind ourselves He holds all things together and He can take what was meant to harm us and turn it for our good.”
Up-and-coming artist Janine Danielle takes music to a more meaningful worship experience in ‘Why Do You Love Me.’ The inspirational ballad was written and composed specifically for her by Spotify Philippines’ most streamed female artist, Moira Dela Torre, and Moira’s husband, award-winning musician Jason Hernandez.
“Why Do You Love Me is a song about God’s unconditional love and pursuit,” adds Danielle. “It’s about a kind of love that you could never earn no matter how good you are and a love that you could never lose no matter how messed up you are; A love that constantly pursues and a love that will never leave you restless; A love that’s reassuring. It’ll be always there.”
The lyrics were inspired by a conversation between Moira and Danielle about the similarities in their life story. “We both grew up in a broken family and were both raised by strong single moms,” explains Danielle. “Growing up, I had fear of abandonment and rejection. I was trapped in my insecurity of not being good enough. But it was when I encountered God’s love that made me feel safe and secure. I found my identity in Him. He redefined what love meant— a love that is not conditional depending on my performance but a love that will stay through my worst and best.”
Last but certainly not the least, EJ De Perio, releases an ethereal sonic treat that provides an interesting take on a conversation between De Perio and God, the creation and the Creator.
Known for his work as a promising singer-songwriter with mellow folk and pop sensibilities, EJ De Perio wrote ‘Buntong Hininga’ based on his own dream.
“Nanaginip ako (I have dreamed) where I felt like falling and falling,” says De Perio. “Takot ako sa dilim (I’m afraid of the dark). Tas hindi ako makagalaw (I can’t even move). But then, I rested and surrendered to my dreams, and I saw stars and heard voices singing in harmony. I woke up crying and wrote everything I felt. It’s like a conversation between God and me. He was just waiting for me to surrender everything or to give up everything and then He took over.”
WATERWALK RECORDS A&R and acclaimed producer Jungee Marcelo takes pride in the latest batch of releases from the music label, as it conveys each singer’s spiritual insights via their respective artistry. Marcelo points out that it has always been the desire of WATERWALK to hone the uniqueness of each artist’s style.

dwta draws inspiration from Bicolano folklore and indigenous healing on “Santigwar” music video
The song chronicles the journey of blossoming romance with choreography-heavy visuals
Folk-pop singer-songwriter dwta integrates Bicolano folklore with interpretive dancing on the music video of her new single “Santigwar,” released under Sony Music Philippines.
Drawing inspiration from the indigenous healing ritual practiced commonly in some rural areas in the country, the clip explores themes of mysticism in telling a story of two individuals fighting for love against all odds.
“As far as the concept for the MV, we wanted to really incorporate visually the traditional practice of Santigwar, in the middle of a blooming relationship between a girl and a boy,” the promising newcomer explains. “In most cases, our elders taught us that anything unexplainable can be cleansed or healed through a Santigwar. When we get a reading from a Santigwar, the usual case is that an elemental may have played or got annoyed with us causing us to get sick. Love, as far as we know makes us feel extremes which may seem overwhelming sometimes that we may confuse or doubt it.”
The MV of “Santigwar” is directed by budding filmmaker Elyandre Dagli, who made it possible to chronicle the journey of a blossoming romance through choreography-heavy visuals. Dagli, according to dwta, is very hands-on and passionate about his craft. “It was evident on the finished output,” said the multi-talented artist. “I am honored to have worked with him and the whole crew behind the project. They were really professional.”
dwta’s “Santigwar” was initially released on streaming platforms last February 2022. Defying the conventions of a typical Bicolano love song, the lullaby-inflected pop track makes use of mythological references and quirky wordplay as part of its lyrical statement.
The reception to the song, so far, has been overwhelmingly positive. “We were surprised with the feedback we're getting from the song because it has now been a trend to use it to confess to their crushes.” The Tiwi, Albay native adds, “They would send it to them with a note saying, mari na, mapa-santigwar kita.”

The UE Jam Sessions are taking a stand for responsible voting.
The inspiring anthem “PINTO,” which encourages the youth to support candidates who are advocating for progress and genuine reform, is re-released with a music video directed by Vivian Tricia Rabano, a 16-year-old UE student.
The MV stars UE Teatro Silangan actors and actresses, and artists from UE Himig Silangan and Music Aficionados.
The visual treatment, according to a statement released by the music organization, portrays “true-to-life scenarios that will be able to wake up the audience's senses to vote wisely for the upcoming 2022 elections.”
“We’re trying to send a strong message to all the voters coming from the young generation to vote for the good of their future,” says 12 Stone Records’ Tommy Tanchanco. “While some of the participants in this campaign are 13-17 year old students, they’re also well aware that their future is at stake in this electoral process. In their own little way, they want to make their voices heard, and appeal to our fellow countrymen to elect pro-people candidates with a compelling track record.”
“PINTO” was released late last year on all digital music platforms worldwide, with promising newcomers COSINE, Shareena, and Autumn Tandog as part of the initial lineup interpreting the material.
Written from the perspective of someone convincing the youth to take complete ownership of their destiny and elect someone who cares about welfare of its people, the song is one of the several music projects spearheaded by UE Jam Sessions, with 12 Stone Records’ Tommy Tanchanco and SSG President Nexie Joy Salvador serving as Executive Producers.

Driven by the success of their mega-hit “Ikaw Lang” and wedding-themed track “Unang Sayaw,” breakout band NOBITA has recently reached a new milestone in their career for achieving more than 90 million streams on Spotify alone.
Having mastered the art of writing hugot anthems inspired by the universality of long-term commitment and romantic desire, the five-piece act continues to make pop-rock tunes that leave listeners in a vulnerable state. This is evident on their 2022 single “Totoo,” released under Sony Music Philippines.
Written by lead guitarist Sam Aquino, produced by IsaganiPalabyab of Monostery Studio, with arrangement and additional lyrics from the band, “Totoo” articulates the uncertainty of being lost and helplessly in love. Its songwriting comes from a place of earnestness, capturing the messiness of being at the bitter end of a relationship.
“Since may hit single kami about being certain for love, we decided to take turns by making a 'counter song' for a love song per se,” NOBITA said in a joint statement. “Our fans, Nobibis requested for us to make a song about ‘single’ and ‘unfortunate in love’ people. We decided to take the challenge to heart.”
Laced with suave instrumentation and heartfelt vocals, the song hits harder than usual, while retaining the earworm tendencies of their previous hits. As the chart-topping music act puts it, “We just simply want to keep the NOBITA flavor in all of our tracks.”
The release of “Totoo” comes with a music video that stars veteran actor Mon Confiado and popular content creator Eya Borja. Directed by NOBITA’s frequent collaborator John Selirio, the MV explores the intricacy of reliving memories and the pain of losing someone important.

KAIA sets their sights on going global with their official debut single “BLAH BLAH”—released under Sony Music.
The upbeat bop is helmed by Lee Oh Won, the producer behind some of the most remarkable tunes by international artists such as Stray Kids, SHINee’s Taemin, TVXQ, and SB19. Exploring a future-forward sound that ties together different elements and styles, “BLAH BLAH” marks the arrival of ShowBT-managed KAIA as a P-Pop newcomer with hitmaking potential.
The five-piece group wrote “BLAH BLAH” as a creative unit, deriving from their collective experiences in dealing with romantic love and infatuation, and how it’s not always “as beautiful as what we think.”
“Writing BLAH BLAH is somehow easier considering our chemistry has improved a lot since then,” KAIA’s very own Sophia shares in a statement. “We finally learned how to trust each other on a deeper level, hence the making of a song about love. Aside from this, everyone puts their 100% effort into this official debut. Even when one of us gets stuck in writing, the other four members make sure to help out when needed. That being said, our closeness and dedication made us more comfortable and confident in writing BLAH BLAH.”

The name KAIA is inspired by two tagalog words: First is Kinaiya, which is a tagalog noun that describes your inner character. These aren’t just your good traits, but all the traits and characteristics that make you who you are. The second word is Kaya, which is a generic tagalog term Filipinos use in their everyday lives, mainly to overcome their struggles. “Kaya mo paba?” “Kakayanin.”
KAIA is a word that sounds feminine, but means powerful. Accepting who you are, and using it as a strength to overcome your goals despite what may be thrown at you. This is what the group represents now that they have finally debuted.

PH leg of 2022 UCI Gravel World Series ends on a triumphant note
Butuan native Riemon Lapaza topped the race amid a challenging terrain
With some of the most inspired riding and trying tracks in a race this year, the 2022 UCI Gravel World Series Philippines is in the books, literally in the history books, as being the starting point of the first-ever race series of its kind under the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
The multi-nation, multiple-leg race series kicked off last April 3, 2022 in Bongabon, Nueva Ecija, a picturesque municipality that has become a favorite destination within the global biking community for the past few years.
After enduring the dirt road with a flat tire near the finish line, Butuan native Riemon Lapaza emerged as the top placer of the Philippine leg in all categories, clocking in 3:06:46.7. The champion of the men’s 35-39 years old category was trailed behind by The Netherlands’ Rick Nobel, who placed first in the men’s 19-34 category.
Mellisa Jane Jaroda topped the women’s 19-34 category, and ranked first among female racers with 3:39:00.639.
Close to 400 riders were in attendance, all vying for the chance to finish the 85-km race. Each qualifier was awarded with a finisher medal, and 25% of each rider category earned a UCI qualifying medal and automatically made it to the UCI World Championships.
Participants from the Philippines and the rest of the world powered through all the ascents, river crossings, water features, and everything else that Bongabon’s legendary terrain put in front of them. As Vic Narciso, one of the riders, described the journey as he crosses the finish line, “it was the most challenging and violent race I’ve ever done, but I can’t stop smiling.”
Ann Aleonar, who has been racing since 2010, shared that she was overwhelmed with gratitude. “I took a 5-year break from racing, and anyone who’s raced knows that it isn’t easy to come back – especially up to racing level,” Aleonar said. “And then the pandemic happened, it really wasn’t easy. When I actually finished and qualified, the first feeling I felt was gratefulness.”
The Philippine leg attracted competitors from Europe and Asia, who not only found victory here in the country, but a biking scene that welcomed them with open arms. Tokyo’s Junro Nagashima of cycling team Roppongi Express, said that he was not surprised at how friendly the Filipino riders were, but that he was surprised at how comfortable they all made him and his teammate feel. Rick Nobel from the Netherlands, who placed first in the 19-34 Male category, was also seen smiling from ear-to-ear, in the midst of his newfound friends within the local riding community. Jared Hui, a rider from Singapore, wrote a long testimony on Facebook about how local MTB legend Bans Mendoza lent him his personal bike after he realized that his own two-wheeler wasn’t the right setup for the race.
Bongabon Mayor Allan Gamilla also made an appearance and expressed gratitude to the organizers for tapping Bongabon, Nueva Ecija as the first and only Asian leg in the 2022 UCI Gravel World Series. “This is a big boost for Bongabon as a destination for sports tourism. We hope to make use of the municipality’s potential to help promote the country, and further establish it as major global hub for gravel riding.”
These were just a few of the stories of how an amazing sporting event brings all kinds of people together, with everyone leaving the venue with full hearts already asking about the next race. Clearly, in more ways than one, UGWSPH made its mark.

Filipino band of Mercury teams up with Chinese breakthrough producer Crazy Donkey on new single “New Highs”
The Mandarin edit also features Chinese rapper Kaka
Alternative pop/soul outfit of Mercury continues their winning streak with the release of ‘New Highs,’ their collaborative single with prolific producer Crazy Donkey.
Incorporating elements of house and Brazilian bass effortlessly alongside Nathan Huang’s vocals, ‘New Highs’ showcases the natural instincts that have made 16-year-old Crazy Donkey one of the most exciting names to come out from China in the last 12 months.
Crazy Donkey worked on the lyrics of ‘New Highs’ with multi-platinum award-winning lyricist, Jesper Borgen, who has been responsible for writing hits from the likes of Alan Walker, Bebe Rexha and many more. Furthermore, there will be an alternate Mandarin language version of the song made available with local rapper, Kaka, on April 1 as well.
Filipino band of Mercury expressed excitement in workingwith the talented producer despite the difference in sonic approach. “To be able to work with him with this type of sound was a bit of a challenge but at the same time fun because of us exploring the idea,” vocalist and guitarist Nathan Huang said. “We were working remotely away from each other, but it goes to show that we can create music together no matter how far apart we were.”
Adding dimension to the track, of Mercury’s Nathan Huang explores a different sound other than the usual urban-inflected vocals. “We love the melodies that was already laid out and we just added Nathan’s ‘flavor’ to it, you can say,” said the three-piece band in an official statement.
The concept of ‘New Highs’ is all about levelling up and chasing that new “high” and experience and arrives at the perfect moment as many countries open-up globally. The content around the single is set to tie into this very concept across the course of the campaign and will include an official visual centered around the skateboarding scene, shot on location in Los Angeles, that is set for release in mid-April.

Familiar PUBG MOBILE characters are brought to life in the music video, interspersed with Battle Royale scenes in-game. The artistic direction also features vibrant blues, pinks, and yellows hinting at the game’s 4th-anniversary celebration.
Flict-G is a Filipino rapper known in hip-hop circles for his patriotic rap and lyrics of resistance and inspiration. He encourages everyone, especially the youth to become the best version of themselves in the PUBG MOBILE story-inspired music video. The Microphone Mechanics and Cursebox production connect real-life adversities to in-game competition faced by gamers.
