After setting the dancefloor on fire with the euphoric banger “Moonlight,” SB19 returns with another monumental collaboration featuring Filipino-American hip-hop superstar Apl.de.Ap.

The two powerhouse icons take Filipino music artistry to the next level with the release of “Ready,” a shiny club number that captures the sound of summer effortlessly regardless of the season.

Going extremely hard with bombastic beats and exciting sonic builds, the track finds SB19 and Apl.de.Apconcocting a confident bop with global appeal and strong crossover potential.

Keith Harris, a longtime collaborator of the Black Eyed Peas, produced the song. According to Apl.de.Ap, Harris did an amazing job blending pop music influences with electronic music elements, dance music, and Afrobeats.

The resident BEP rapper also penned “Ready” with Jean-Baptiste, Vince Nantes, and Denzel.

SB19’s very own Pablo and Josue (Radkidz), on the other hand, contributed to the production of the track, adding final touches and subtle sonic elements. With party-starting vocals gliding atop carefully structured production, “Ready” highlights the individual strengths of both SB19 and Apl.de.Ap while nurturing their chemistry with pure, instinctive joy.

“We never got the chance to record together in a single booth, but Apl.de.Ap was such a great guy to work with,” shares SB19’s Justin. “It’s an honor to collaborate with a global superstar of his caliber. We’ve learned so much from his generosity and creative feedback.”

SB19’s Stell was also ecstatic about sharing how game-changing the entire experience was. “It was something new for the group. We appreciate the chance to delve into new genres and production styles that come with unfamiliar territory. NIKI’s upcoming album Buzz , slated for release on August 9th, reverberates with the hard-earned wisdom of a young woman who charges dauntlessly towards her dreams — but can still spare a laugh if she stumbles. Filipino indie singer-songwriter Keiko Necesario findsrenewed strength in love and spirituality amidst unjust social conditions on her new single “Kahit Pa Anong Mangyari,” out on all digital streaming platforms worldwide this Friday, May 31, 2024.

 

The irresistible pop-rock confessional shows Keiko’sresilience and vulnerability in disarmingly bold ways as she chronicles her story of overcoming a challenging season in her married life—thanks to God and her husband, who never left her side during a tumultuous ordeal.

 

According to Keiko, she penned the track at a time when she and her partner struggled to make ends meet while reflectingon what truly matters for her and between them.

 

“Last year, it came to a point when we only had 700 pesos in our bank account, and we had to figure out what to do because there were bills to pay and other things to think about,” shares the multi-talented solo artist. “During that difficult time, we chose to have faith because we knew and believed that seasons come and go. God was, and is our provider, so because of that whole experience, I got to write and finish the song.”

 

 

 

Keiko Necessario wrote and co-produced the song, with her bassist Charles Bautista assisting with the overall production. Capturing a pivotal change in both her sound and sonic perspective, Keiko delivers a sterling earworm that isn’t afraid to share a piece of her with the public, no matter how imperfect and devoid it is of rosy disposition. This time around, she wants to celebrate her newfound courage through a track that sees optimism and joy even in the darkest of situations.

 

With its pulsating guitar riffs, melodic arrangements, and charismatic songwriting, “Kahit Pa Anong Mangyari” brings music fans to the glory days of late ‘90s and early 2000s OPM alternative rock where female-fronted bands ruled the airwaves. The indie folk/pop recording artist reveals, “The process was just so much fun because I honestly love spending time in the studio and getting lost in choosing the right elements for a new song. Working with Charles as a co-producer is a refreshing kind of experience because he’s so excellent, and what I love about working with him is that he’s always present and focused. I already told him this and even mentioned it to my husband: that I appreciate Charles’ work ethic because, as busy as he is with other musicians and other things in his life, when you work with him, it’s as if he’s not doing anything else.”

The Ransom Collective’s Muri teases the release of her newest single “Afternoon” ahead of her debut EP

The violinist/singer-songwriter sets sight on dropping her first solo EP this year

 

The Ransom Collective’s Muri is slated to drop “Afternoon,” the first single off her upcoming debut EP to be released this year.

 

The Filipino singer-songwriter and violinist teased the project’s date of release on her social media accounts, along with the song title.

 

According to Muriel Gonzales, “Afternoon” was inspired by her personal experiences as a young woman navigating career and life challenges entirely on her own, in a country far away from home.

 

“I’ve been working on this song for quite a while,” she admits. “Without revealing too much about the creative and thought process behind Afternoon, I actually find it freeing to open up about being vulnerable and share a piece of myself through songwriting. Sometimes, expressing what you really feel helps you gain a deeper understanding of yourself as a person and as an artist. Making the entire track was both a journey and a reflection. I can’t wait to share it with the rest of the world.”

 

Currently based in London and Paris, Muri is working on her solo EP, with plans to perform her new material in Europe and Asia sometime this year.

 

Muri is best known for her work with indie folk collective The Ransom Collective as a violinist and singer. As a solo artist, she has earned a nomination for Wishclusive Contemporary R&B Performance of the Year at the prestigious Wish Awards and Favorite Female Artist at the 35th Awit Awards for her pre-debut 2022 single “Letters.” In the subsequent year, she collaborated with electronic producer LUSTBASS on a remix of "Thunder," which garnered a nomination for Best Remix Recording at the 36th AwitAwards, the Philippines' equivalent of the Grammys.

Hear James Reid’s emotional ballad, “Hurt Me Too”

The stripped-down track serves as his first release under Sony Music Entertainment

 

Filipino music superstar James Reid is the latest addition to the growing Sony Music Entertainment family, which counts the likes of SB19, Ben&Ben, Denise Julia, O SIDE MAFIA, and Clara Benin as part of its elite roster.

As a key figure in contemporary pop and R&B music in the Philippines for more than a decade, James Reid has gifted music fans around the world with compelling jams that transcend eras and generations. With chart-topping records, sold-out tours, and well-received brand campaigns under his belt, the music mogul, actor, and singer-songwriter continue to strike a balance between commercial viability and artistic independence, ensuring that there’s a place for artists like him in the mainstream music scene, who don’t need to pander to existing trends for a hit.

For his first project under Sony Music Entertainment, James Reid explores the theme of being heartbroken in the new single “Hurt Me Too.” A stripped-down ballad that packs an emotional punch, “Hurt Me Too” finds him grappling with the realities of a heartbreak.  

The Tim Marquez-produced track shows James at his most vulnerable, looking back at the ghost of his past with equal moments of fondness and pain.

“I wrote the song three years ago together with Seth Reger, an artist from LA,” the talented multi-hyphenate shares. “He really helped me tap into these emotions that I didn’t even know I was feeling at that moment.”

According to the Randomantic act, “Hurt Me Too” marks a significant shift in his sonic and lyrical direction—a crucial decision that he admits, would define the next phase of his music era. This time around, the focus is more on the storytelling aspect of his music-making: unearthing old wounds and memories, and turning them into an inspiring piece of work.

He explains, “For this next album I’m working on, I wanted to focus on the core of who I am as a songwriter with minimal but intentional music production. Hurt Me Too is like a palate cleanser for me in a way that it introduces a change in sound and direction.”

For immediate release — HIP HOP / R&B girl group XG held their first world tour, "XG 1st WORLD TOUR 'The first HOWL’", captivating audiences at Osaka-Jo Hall with back-to-back sold out shows on May 18th and 19th. The performances showcased cover songs that are unique to the Japan shows, reimagined versions of their tracks, and songs from their "XG TAPE" rap content series alongside their "XG VOX" vocal content series, crafting an impressive 22-song setlist.

In a mesmerising display of talent and nostalgia, XGALX's chief producer, JAKOPS (Simon JunhoPark), took center stage during the DJ segment. Against a backdrop of footage chronicling the 7-member girl group’s evolution from trainee days to the present, JAKOPS enchanted the audience with a blend of R&B classics and Japanese favourites. As the concert reached its crescendo, XG surprised fans with a double encore, unveiling their new single “WOKE UP” for the very first time. The concert, spanning about two exhilarating hours, was met with enthusiastic cheers from the crowd until the very end.

 

On May 21st, XG’s fifth single "WOKE UP" is officially made available in both CD BOX and digital formats. Limited edition vinyl reservations open on May 22nd at 12PM JST here.
