Flying House Ocho Pizza

Flying House is a small restaurant and bar that I frequent along Malingap Street, Quezon City. I love their homey vibe and delicious bar chow. Their Ocho Pizza has become an instant favorite for me and my partner. Its thin crust and generous supreme toppings brought back happy childhood memories. We highly recommend this!

Breakfast Bin

Breakfast Bin is one of my go-to places for a good all-day breakfast. This Maginhawa restaurant has been my venue of choice for countless dates, meetings, and catch-ups with friends. Their price points are budget-friendly, yet their food tastes premium.

I am especially fond of their Toasted Naked Longganisa with Talangka brown rice. It is the perfect match to a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

Go ahead and give this a try! I promise you that this rice bowl will remind you of simple, Covid-19-free times.

Enjoy!

Birthday Vibe

I recenly purchased a Love, Susie crescent ring in gold vermeil. I chose it because it is a) adjustable, b) locally handmade, and c) made to last as the base metal is sterling silver. Since Love, Susie is the sister brand of local handmade jewelry brand Pulseras by Kim, I am sure of the quality and craftsmanship behind this piece.

This is not a sponsored post. I am just a fan and happy customer! My ring came with free stud earrings as Pulseras by Kim is moving to a new physical store soon. I am happy that I was able to visit their Maginhawa space one last time. It was a special location for me, as it was right beside my alma mater, Holy Family School.

I am grateful to still have the luxury to enjoy handmade jewelry this pandemic. We are all struggling with the Covid-19 crisis, so it helps to have some sparkle in our lives right now.

I hope that you will also find a piece or two from Love, Susie to inspire you to stay positive during trying times.

Quarantine Drive

I drove to Maginhawa yesterday to buy food. It was refreshing to be out and about after being safe inside my own home for a week. I was out for less than an hour, but it really worked wonders on my mood and outlook in life.

I am more appreciative of the fact that I can afford to drive and buy food. I am luckier than most, and I won’t take these simple joys for granted again.

I hope that this will all end soon. For now, stay safe and healthy everyone!

Quarantine Joys

The enhanced community quarantine or ECQ has been challenging for all of us. We all miss our routines and our normal lives. However, I also believe that I should not take this time for granted. Life is too short, so we have to make the most out of what we have.

Here are some of the simple joys that make my quarantine memorable:

  1. I enjoy driving to buy bread at Pan De Manila Maginhawa branch. I miss my foodie street, and I am glad that the bakery where I regularly buy bread, ice cream, and 3in1 coffee is open to serve us.

2. I really get excited whenever I receive my online purchases! Here I am with my box of coffee from LazMart.

3. And here I am overjoyed to receive my yarn stash from Baguio-based artisan Crocheted by Carisse. Guys, let us continue supporting small businesses during the ECQ. They need all the help during this difficult time.

I will never take my blessings for granted again! Simple joys make my quarantine meaningful and memorable. I hope that you also have some everyday miracles that define your lockdown.

God bless us all!

Maginhawa Slowdown

Yesterday, I watched Hello World, an anime film. It was showing at Cinema Centenario, a microcinema that I frequent at Maginhawa. I don’t usually like anime, but this one was enjoyable! I highly recommend it.
I had early dinner at Steakfix after the movie. Their chicken steak was very good!
Spending my day at the street where I finished high school was therapeutic. I look forward to more slow days here, so I can recharge and be reminded of how fun it is to be young.

Reconnecting with Grace

Yesterday, I got to reconnect with my good friend Grace. She was the HR Manager in my former office. I was ecstatic to learn that she is now based on QC, so we met up at Breakfast Bin in Maginhawa.

I ordered the veggie skillet and later, we had dessert at Papa Diddi’s.

I had the coffee and cheese ice cream scoops. So good!

It was so nice to reconnect with an old friend from the past! Hopefully, this will be the start of more rekindled friendships.
