Buttons and bows

I met Erina when I started volunteering for the Earsavers for Lifesavers PH group. I have donated 900 earsavers so far to frontliners who are fighting Covid-19. The craft has kept me busy and purposeful at home. I also became close to my fellow crocheters on the group, especially Erina. She became my source of encouragement when the cabin fever was overwhelming. This has led me to supporting her small business, Ami Eri.

I have always been passionate about supporting small businesses since I also have my own Human Nature online store. Ami Eri sells crocheted cup cozies, hair bows, shawls, and more. Erina is open to bespoke orders and customization. She uses cotton yarn to ensure many years of usage.

Erina has also donated 100 buttons for me to use on my upcoming earsavers. I am truly grateful for this!

Carousell Lessons

Yesterday, I shipped my last item from the recent Carousell 13th Month Sale. I had fun cleaning my room, preparing items for sale, and uploading photos of my pre-loved items. More than making money out of this side hustle, I consider my Carousell shop to be a learning lab of sorts.

Here are a few lessons I have learned so far:

Taking photos of items is a lot of work, but it is a journey back in time. Seeing my pre-loved items reminds me of the memories I’ve made with each item, and how tactile moments can be.

People online can be mean and rude. It is up to me as the seller to extend my patience. It is also rewarding to encounter nice and understanding customers.

Lastly, I learned that I have way too much stuff! Decluttering has been healthy and relaxing. I look forward to selling more and using more of what I have. Indeed, life is too short, and we don’t need that much to live on!

Garage Sale

I have been selling my pre-loved items on my Carousell shop for a few months now. I have closed a few deals, and I must say that the experience has been gratifying! More than earning money on the side, I enjoy selling my secondhand goods because I am giving them a new lease on life.
I am also learning more about business while chatting with customers and negotiating prices. It has not been easy at first, but I am already getting the hang of it.

Fire and Faith

Yesterday, I survived the LRT2 fire. I was inside the train at Cubao station supposedly enroute to St. Jude when it happened. Luckily, I was spared and I simply chose to return to the north.

Speaking of which, I went to Quiapo Church this morning to pray for a good job and to give thanks for the gift of a new day.

I was able to visit Shanleen Hopia after mass to sample their ube hopia. It was delicious!

Core Advocacy

Yesterday, I joined a workshop on growing my income at the Human Nature Flagship Store.  

I joined my fellow Core Advocates in learning and sharing on a Saturday afternoon. Our colleague, Lei, was the enthusiastic resource speaker.  

The lecture was practical, and well-received! I will definitely use the SMART goals in planning and organizing. 

Building my empire sounds daunting, but it really is achievable. I have to consistently practice effort and creativity in order to earn more and be more!
